Davao Region, formerly calledSouthern Mindanao,is anadministrative regionin thePhilippines, designated asRegion XI.It is situated at the southeastern portion ofMindanao, comprising fiveprovinces:Compostela Valley,Davao del Norte,Davao del Sur,Davao Oriental, andDavao Occidental, the newly created province.The region encloses theDavao Gulf, and its regional center isDavao City.
